« Thread started on: Dec 2nd, 2016, 12:35pm »

Just wondering...I haven't been able to find any info on making the box 'shorter' than the face frame to provide an overhang. The side 'overhang' was readily obtained by changing the scribe setting (thanks Rob!). I can fudge it by creating face frames at desired dimensions, printing those dimensions, then lower all heights to get boxes where I want them (1 1/4" shorter than face frames on bases to allow 1 1/4" bottom overhang w/2" rails), but there must be a better way...? On wall cabinets I make face frames 3/8" proud of the top of the box and 1 1/4" lower than the bottom of the box (provides kind of a 'valence' for lights, etc.). I've tried 'adjusting parts' but nothing seems to change the box side height...any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Did you set the dado depth to 3/4"? I just checked and doing that it gave 28" sides on a 30" base.

Setting dado depth to 3/4" works great for base cabinets, thanks! But it doesn't seem to work on wall cabinets. Stiles on wall cabinets are 30" and sides are 28 1/2" (Hgt - Top - Bottom). No problem to just cut upper sides shorter than spec'd, unless there's an 'Upper' setting/adjustment or something I'm missing? Thanks again for all the help!

Ok wasn't sure if you built the uppers the same as the bases.

Set the dado depth in the General Standrds to zero and then start a new job. create a base cabinet and then check the part sizes. Then open the "cabinet parts adjustments" window under the Standards menu and make any corrections needed. Repeat for the upper and tall cabinets.
