Stile length
Post by Aus on Jan 21st, 2017, 04:13am

I'm entering previously built base cabs into CP to learn the program before using it to build my uppers. I built with ladder style base 3.5 in tall, cabs 31 in tall, styles and rails 1.5 inches wide. Top of top rail flush with top of cabinet and top of bottom rail flush with top of bottom of cab. This should give style length 31.75. I set bottom rail lip setting to 0 and cut list shows 31 in style length. Am I missing something?

For base cabinets with separate toe kicks, and wanting the bottom rail to extend below the cabinet you need to set the toe kick height to -.001. This will trigger the program to shorten the length of the sides by the bottom rail width minus your box material thickness.

Doing it this way you would set the cabinet height to 31.75" and the sides will come out 31"

I seem to be having the same issue, but with an integrated toe kick. I want a 3.5" toe kick on a 34.5" tall cabinet, with the bottom face frame rail flush with the top of the bottom of the case. What am I missing? When I change the bottom lip to -.075 the stiles remain the same.

The bottom rail lip setting only moves the bottom down and adjusts the length of the back and partitions if present.

I am not real sure what you are trying to do from what you wrote. Leaving the bottom rail lip setting to zero sounds like it should work. Any chance you can restate it or provide a drawing?

I understand now. I thought that the bottom lip setting was moving the length of stile not the case bottom. rolleyes Thanks!
