Island cabinet
Post by jjokub on Jul 29th, 2015, 12:45pm

Any ideas on how to draw this up in Cabinet Planner? So I can build it . . . I know, I know- I don't want much. Thanks,
Joe

You'll need to start by creating the island walls (zero height and depth) in a hexagonal shape like on the left side of the photo below. You can then place the cabinets/appliances on each of the 6 walls, overhanging on each end of the wall enough so they line up with the adjoining cabinets.

If you know the width of one of the faces and the depth you want to make the cabinets I can gives the sizes and overhang needed.

Rob- That is brilliant. My sink cabinet is 36" and the two wings can be 32" the remainder of the hexagon will actually be all countertop for seating on the other side of the sink. Thank you so much. If I get the job I will post a picture of the completed island.

Sorry,
Depth on all three cabinets is 24".

With 36" wide faces you wont be able to have drawers in the two wings. They will interfere with the sink.

That's ok I'll make those false fronts. I wonder if you look at the picture if imediately adjacent to the sink cabinet, the start of the wing if you will, is a false panel or at least unusable? The two wings on mine can be wider if needed.

ok, for a 36x24 sink cabinet you will need to make that wall 8.29" and have the starting location of the cabinet at -13.86. For the wing on the right, the starting location would be the same and its length can be whatever you decide on. The left wing will depend on the length you make them. The wall angles are at 60 degree increments.

In your picture the sink base has about 5-6" wide stiles and the face frame is inset. With doors on wings on either side you wont have to worry about any interference.

Here is what I came up with. Hopefully I can build it.

Looks good.

Make sure you build it in sections and that each section will fit through any doorways you need to go through.

Or turn it sideways and it will go through a 36" front doorway
