Functionality Questions-Prior to Purchase
Post by cchristie on Oct 5th, 2016, 4:18pm

I am looking for some cabinet software and was hoping you could answer some questions about functionality so I can see if this package may be right for me!

I work with a standard set of cabinets and currently model in solidworks. This gives me a cut list for each individual cabinet, but then it is a lot of work to combine the individual cut lists into one master list for the complete job. Does the cabinet planner software have this functionality? Will "duplicate" items (eg cabinets that are different widths, but have the same gable thus the gable will be duplicate)be grouped together on one line?

Also is it possible to create a "library" so you don't have to design the same cabinet over and over again?

I was thinking of using excel to do all the combining, but I think there would be a lot of work to set everything up to work correctly, and it would defintely take up more in wages than the cost of this software!!

Thanks,
Colleen

Sorry or the delay in answering your questions. Not sure how I missed it.

The program can create master parts lists for the entire jobs for different part types, cabinet part, door part, etc... But each duplicate is on a separate line.

It is possible to create a job with various cabinets, configured the way you want, and then use the "import cabinet" feature to pull cabinets from that file into a current job. Personally I think the process of importing a cabinet vs. just creating another would take about the same time.

Thanks Rob. I think I will try the free trial and see if it will work for us. We are a small manufacturer of mobile modular buildings so we have a standard set of cabinets that we try to work with so I am trying to find a way to eliminate the replication of work, and a way for our cabinet maker to not have to do so much math!! laugh
