This is really helpful Rob. I did my first rendering with this last night and although I am a total novice it turned out pretty good. One thing I found is that you can tuck can lights under uppers to simulate under cabinet lighting.
I am definately going to use the soffit feature to plug in a ceiling next time

That looks great!
Yep, a ceiling helps to complete the look. It also helps if you add an image to the floor.
If you want to really finish it off, do some googling for free dxf files of computers and various office furnishings. You can use the merge(?) feature to add them to a rendering, but you usually need to rotate and scale them.
Also, you can add a flat surface under the cabinets in kerky and then apply lighting to it the same as with the can lights. That'll give the look of a florescent tube.

Looks good! How long did it take to render the image and how many lines did you use?

Do you have any suggestions where to look for free 3D files? I have only found 2D files and one site that wanted $17 for a 3D office chair. What file format am I looking for? Thanks

It took about an hour but it was the first time I had used the software. I just followed Rob's instructions he has posted on the CP site and this is how it turned out. It took about 20 minutes on setting 6 to do the actual render.... I need a faster PC

I've goten some from Turbosquid, just enter 0's in the "set custom price range" along the left side of the page. Then look for ones that are available as OBJ file types. I think you need to be a member to download them but that's free.

Once done, they do look great. I also noticed that sometime it will have a side or back missing when you spin it around to look at the cabinets. is that something normal with the program? I had a upper cabinet that had one wall missing on the box. it was drawn like any other cabinet I made.

Can you post a picture or send me the job file? There are too many possibilities to try and guess.

I found Kerky does not play well with Windows 7. I am running a Lenovo desktop with an Intel 7 chip. When I switch tool such as Pan to Rotate I must restore Windows. When switching to another tool I then maximize Windows. Is there a fix.

This is a known but unresolved issue. See my post and possible fix here (username rbmcal)

Rob,
How did you do that wood hood in your rendering?
The one with the curves.

I used the Custom Trim Editor to create some large trim like below and applied it to an Upper Filler.
