Is there a way to have a 'built up' countertop made of a plywood surface with wood trim around the edges and a laminate on top? All I can see is the preformed stuff you find at a big-box store.

You could simulate this in the program by using a normal countertop, with its depth shortened by 3/4". Then you could place a 3/4" deep shelf from the Misc menu in front of it.
